Mayfield Yarns - Monday 27th July 2009
A fire last night broke out at the Mayfield Yarns factory in Derbyshire.
Local fire fighters were called to the scene and were successful in quickly bringing the blaze under control.
As a result, production started as normal this morning and customer deliveries are unaffected.
The damage was contained to a limited area of the factory which is used to store raw materials. No personal injuries were sustained.
Police are now investigating the cause of the blaze.
The effective operation of safety systems, rapid response of the local fire service and a quick response from local management limited the impact of the blaze.

New Managing Director to take Mayfield Yarns forward
I am pleased to announce the appointment of David Wilson as Managing Director of Mayfield Yarns with effect from Monday 6th October 2008.
David is currently European Operations Director of Nautilus (producers of fitness equipment). Prior to that he worked in various parts of the textile industry, including Courtaulds Jersey in Leek and Liberty Fabrics in the United States.
Initially, David will take responsibility for the UK operation, reporting to me. I will continue to look after Mayfield Canada for the foreseeable future.
I am sure you will join me in wishing David well in his role, as Mayfield moves onto the next stage of its development.
